FHU SCHOLARSHIP FUND
At Florida Hebrew University, we hold fast to the belief that every Torah-observant student should have the opportunity to pursue a meaningful education steeped in both academic and spiritual growth, regardless of financial circumstances. Our Merit-Based Scholarship Fund is a reflection of our commitment to breaking down financial barriers and supporting those who dedicate themselves to the path of Torah and learning.

Our Mission: Nurturing Torah and Academic Excellence
The FHU Merit-Based Scholarship Fund exists to help students who demonstrate outstanding dedication to their studies, commitment to Torah values, and genuine financial need. We aim to support those who excel both in their learning and their personal avodat Hashem, providing the financial means for them to grow and succeed within our university.
How We Award Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded based on a comprehensive evaluation of each applicant’s academic and spiritual achievements, reflecting the values of Torah observance and community service. Students must prove their worthiness for these scholarships through a rigorous application process:
-
Academic Excellence: Submission of transcripts demonstrating strong grades and a commitment to learning.
-
Letters of Recommendation: Two or more letters from respected teachers, rabbis, or community leaders attesting to the student’s character, Torah commitment, and middot.
-
Personal Essay: A heartfelt essay expressing the student’s goals, their dedication to Torah, and how they wish to contribute to Klal Yisrael through their education.
-
Volunteer Work: Evidence of chesed and volunteer work, showing their dedication to helping others and fulfilling the mitzvah of gemilut chasadim.
-
Interview: A personal interview with our selection committee, allowing the student to share their aspirations and demonstrate how they embody the values of FHU.
A committee of esteemed rabbanim, faculty members, and community leaders carefully reviews each application, ensuring that scholarships go to those students who truly embody the values of Torah learning and excellence.
Who Can Contribute?
Supporting the FHU Scholarship Fund is a mitzvah that goes beyond the individual student; it strengthens the entire Torah community. Here are some ways you can make a meaningful impact:
-
Parents Sponsorship: Parents who wish to cover the tuition of their children's friends who cannot afford it are encouraged to sponsor a fellow student, reinforcing the value of achdut (unity) and responsibility within our community.
-
Organizations Sponsoring Students: Businesses, community organizations, and shuls can sponsor students, aligning their tzedakah with the mission of nurturing the next generation of Torah scholars and leaders.
-
Alumni Giving Back: Alumni of FHU who want to give back to their alma mater can support the scholarship fund, passing on the gift of Torah and education to the next cohort of students.
-
Named Scholarships: Create a named scholarship in honor or memory of a loved one, or in the merit of someone who is living. This is a beautiful way to perpetuate the values of Torah and support students on their path of growth.
-
General Contributions: Every contribution helps. Your tzedakah strengthens our scholarship fund and ensures that no student is turned away due to financial barriers.
