VOLUNTEER AT FHU

At Florida Hebrew University, our mission is to provide a Torah-based education that empowers individuals to make a positive impact on their communities and the broader world, all within the framework of Halacha and Torah values.

Our volunteers are essential partners in helping us achieve this mission by contributing their time, skills, and passion to our various initiatives. Whether you’re a student, graduate, parent, or member of the community, there’s a place for you at FHU to perform this mitzvah of tzedakah—giving of yourself to benefit others.

Ethical Volunteerism

At FHU, we are committed to ethical volunteerism, rooted in Torah values and the mitzvah of tzedakah. This means ensuring that all volunteer roles are meaningful, fair, and aligned with our mission of promoting Torah learning and practice. We recognize the importance of balancing the need for volunteer support with ethical practices, ensuring that volunteers are never exploited and that their contributions are valued and respected.

THE POWER OF TZEDAKAH

Tzedakah (charity) is one of the greatest mitzvot we can perform. Moving yourself to the side, and becoming a vessel of Hashem's blessings for others can be transformative.  The Torah teaches that tzedakah has the power to save lives and protect us from harm. As it says in Mishlei (Proverbs) 10:2, “Tzedakah tatzil mimavet”—“Tzedakah saves lives.” By volunteering at FHU, you are not only giving of your time and talents, but also fulfilling this crucial mitzvah, bringing blessing and protection to yourself and others.

Why Volunteer With Us?

Volunteering at FHU is not just about giving your time—it’s about becoming part of a vibrant kehilla dedicated to Torah, mitzvot, and lifelong learning. As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Make a Difference: Your efforts directly support our faculty, students, and programs, creating a lasting impact that will echo throughout Klal Yisrael. Your acts of tzedakah can change lives, fulfilling the teaching that “whoever saves a life, it is as if they have saved an entire world” (Sanhedrin 37a).

  • Develop New Skills: Whether you’re organizing an event, assisting with kiruv outreach, or supporting academic initiatives, you’ll gain valuable experience and skills, all while serving Hashem through the mitzvah of tzedakah.

  • Connect with Others: Volunteering is a wonderful way to meet like-minded bnei Torah, build meaningful relationships, and become an integral part of the FHU family.

  • Be Recognized: We value and acknowledge the contributions of our volunteers, ensuring you feel appreciated and respected in your avodah of tzedakah.
